ISU Blog 2

I am surrounded
surrounded by the world that he has created.
The world that he drew and shaded.
And we are his puppets
We must do as he say
or else there is nothing, but death in our way.
Still there is something inside of me
that's saying this is not right
that there is a different path that can take me to the light.
But he's controlling my thoughts
holding me down
from loving, thinking, trusting.
But why?
Can't I just get up and deny
what if everything he said was a lie.
If everything is a lie
then why are we bowing to his feet
is this the sign of our defeat.
Buy why?
Why do I look in the mirror
and see what he wants me to see.
Can't I just for once see
what I look in reality.

This poem is  written by me about the events going on in my novel, specifically with the protagonist so far. As the main character in my novel is having a self vs self-conflict with himself of whether he should support Big Brother or no and he is trying to find out the reality of the past. The poem is about living under a dictator and for my novel is written in the protagonist's perspective, therefore it is similar to the reading as the poem talks about how the people, including the main character, are Big Brothers puppets, meaning under his rulership and that they have to do as he says, or else they get killed. The poem also states that the main character is rising up and getting thoughts of not bowing down to Big Brother and whether everything Big Brother said had been a lie. This is a state of development of the main character as he is getting questions and thoughts of why Big Brother is doing all this. Also, he wants to what the reality is and whether he is against or with Big Brother, just like its said in the poem.
This pic shows the two sides of the persons thinking. I Choose this pic just to advance my point about how the protagonist is double minded or rather confuses of whether he should be with Big Brother or not.

ISU Task 4 Blog One

My social issue in my book so far is life under a dictatorship and I have provided with a poetry and an article related of this issue.

http://hellopoetry.com/words/560878/thoughtcrime-police/poems/

This poetry focuses on the different aspects of living under dictatorship. It states how a dictator has his utter control over the public and  he has the power to run things his way. The poetry indicates the government controlling public's mind by telling them the truth that the dictator wants them to believe. Peoples every move is watched and studied by a third party and making thought crimes would get people arrested or killed. This poetry relates to the social issue of my book, as in it the way Big Brother's dictatorship works is similar to how the poetry describes lifestyle under dictatorship. As in my book people have telescreens in every building including houses, that watches the people and shows them what Big Brother wants them to see. Also at workplaces people are manipulated by watching video that show hate towards Big Brothers enemy. Making thoughtcrimes result in dead or arrest. There is a fear in the atmosphere and the public does what they are told with no objections or else they get killed.

 http://www.english-online.at/history/fascism/life-in-a-fascist-regime.htm
( Based mostly on the first two paragraphs and the " Life in a Fascist Regime")

I selected this article as it talks about the dictator is the head of the state and the citizens have to work for the country and the government. If they don't obey they are punished by imprisonment or execution.  People are trained to follow the running party's beliefs and slogans. Also that the government controls the newspaper and televisions. Freedom of speech is taken away under dictatorship. This relates to the social issue in my novel as the people in my novel who are under the dictatorship of the Big Brother have to do and follow all the things stated by the article. That relates the citizens as being army of robots living under the shadow of their leader and they do as the leader says without objecting the authority.

A War Against Its Own

On a long nightfall of June in Dublin, an outbreak of a civil war between the Republicans and the Free Staters seemed to find no resolution. This led to a Republican sniper taking the life of his own brother in a death battle without even knowing it. The Republican sniper from a rooftop was planning to kill the enemy,but was unaware of the fact that his enemy was his brother who had the same intentions.

The Republican sniper was camping on the rooftop of a building, opposite to its enemies hideout. He had been hungry and tired for the whole day, but had to finish his task. " I heard a two boom sounds and  the woman and a man in black suit  just few meters away from me fell. " , informed a female bystander. These boom sounds were the Republican sniper shooting the enemies that he had spotted down the street, but this revealed his hideout place resulting him with a bullet from the enemy sniper.

The wounded sniper began a well thought out plan that he created to kill the enemy. As he took the cap of the revolver and placed it over the top of the muzzle of his riffle and he then pushed the rifle over the wall while pretending to be dead. Right when the enemy started his celebration, the sniper shot a bullet towards the opposite building and killed his enemy. A man who witnessed this killing stated," It was actually really dark to see clearly, but I saw a person raising his hands up and down and then suddenly I hear a loud noise of a gun shot and the man just dropped".

The sniper was overjoyed with the fact that he had won and that his plan worked. He then went to see who he had killed. " The boy walked towards the body on the floor and when he turned it, he started crying.", explained another bystander. The sniper turned the dead body of his enemy and saw his brother.

All this trouble that the sniper faced to kill his enemy resulted with him killing his own family member. This shows the devastation that wars starts leading to no better ending. For more information go to www.Wars and conflicts.com.
